Forecast
We expect a hard-fought first half
If Manchester United v Tottenham is the most interesting game on Saturday's English Premier League schedule, Arsenal and Leicester will be Sunday's main game.
Arsenal are currently on a four-match winning streak. Their success in recent weeks has lifted Arsenal into fourth place in the table, and given that they have played three fewer games than West Ham United and Manchester United, the Gunners can look to consolidate their place in the Champions League zone. Theoretically, Arsenal could come close to another London team, Chelsea, who are in third place. Arsenal are favourites to win this game, with bookmakers betting odds of 1.5-1.55.
Leicester are clearly failing this season. Before the Foxes won the title, their current 12th place finish would have been considered an acceptable result. However, in recent seasons Leicester have been seen as a stable contender for a place in the Eurocup zone, meaning that a mid-table finish without the slightest chance of making it into the top six should result in a big change for the team. The first changes Rodgers is already trying to implement. The result has been two consecutive victories for Leicester over Burnley and Leeds, 2-0 and 1-0 respectively. The Foxes concede a lot of goals, trying to compensate for that with aggressiveness in attack.
The last match between these teams at the Emirates, held in October 2020, was unexpectedly won by Leicester. This win was the first for the Foxes at the Arsenal Stadium since 1973. Subsequent meetings between the teams were held at the King Power and ended in victories for the Gunners. Undoubtedly, it is Arteta's team who are the favourites for the upcoming meeting. Arsenal have not conceded a goal in the first half in 11 of their 13 home games this season. However, the hosts are unlikely to score two goals in the first half against a very cautious Leicester side.
