Forecast
The Finnish team will beat the visiting national team.
The national teams of Finland and Belarus were drawn into the same Nations League group with Albania and San Marino. The Nordic side in the previous edition of the tournament played in League B, but to call that a 'performance' relative to the results achieved reads too seriously. In six matches against Greece, Ireland and England, the Finns failed to score a single point, managing to score only in two home matches. The zero result led to the entirely logical consequence of relegation. Given the abolition of Nations League D from the next season, the Finns should not fear further relegations. Two years have passed since the aforementioned humiliation of the Finnish team. At the start of last year, the Finnish side was led by the Danish Jakob Friis. Even under him, Finland finished third in the World Cup qualifying group behind Poland and the Netherlands. Having understandably missed the World Cup, the Finns, as favorites, went to the first-round match of the new Nations League edition in San Marino. There was no real contest on the field for the tiny country's national team. By the end of the first half, Friis's charges had scored three unanswered goals, after which they continued to run up the score in the second half - 7:0. The Belarus national team also played in League C in the previous Nations League edition. The Belarusian side then finished in a neutral third place, which simply allowed it to keep its current league status. World Cup qualification for the Belarus team can be divided into two parts. In the first round, Belarus was the 'whipping boy' for Greece, Denmark and Scotland. In the second round the team looked much more worthy, managing to take points from the Greeks and Danes, which subsequently led to missing the World Cup. After Viktor Goncharenko was appointed coach, the Belarusian team played one official match. Last Saturday the team played in Tirana against Albania and were beaten 0-2. Finland is a less experienced opponent than the Albanian national team, but in Helsinki the favourite is obvious. The last time the opponents played on Finnish soil was in 2018. That friendly match ended with the hosts winning 2-0. Most likely, on Tuesday we can expect a similar result.
