Wednesday 14 June sees the first semi-final of the Nations League. The Netherlands will play against Croatia. "The Orange were disappointing during the last international break. The team were thrashed 0-4 by France. It was one of the worst matches in the team's history. Remarkably, it coincided with the return of Ronald Koeman. The coach has replaced Louis van Gaal. The specialist is trying to deliver attacking football, but the Netherlands have a rather modest selection of players when compared to the giants. There are no significant changes from the last roster for the Netherlands. Lots of talented performers, but objectively lacking experience. The big loss is Memphis Depay. One of the key players for Ronald Koeman. The Atletico player finished the season in Madrid with an injury. But Frankie de Jong will definitely be there. The midfielder has recovered from an injury at Barcelona. The Netherlands are unlikely to make any extensive tactical changes. The team will play according to an attacking scheme with three strikers. There might be some problems with finishing. There is no mobile striker at the moment. The main hope in such a situation will be Kodi Gakpo. Croatia are gradually launching a generational change process. So far, the reliance is still on older players. The backbone from the World Cup remains in place, led by Luka Modric. In the centre of the pitch, Croatia still have a strong triangle of Luka with Brozovic and Kovačić. There is only one young star in the squad at the moment, Josko Guardiola. For the Croatian squad, the Nations League could be a beautiful milestone in the team's history. Modric's generation have twice medalled at the World Cup. The title will set a beautiful final point for many of the veterans. Croatia got off to a steady start in qualifying for the European Championships. The team had a total lead over Wales, but missed out on a win in the closing stages. The next match in Turkey was a remedy. Croatia won in a difficult away game thanks to a Kovačić double. "The Checkers do not look like outsiders ahead of their encounter with the Netherlands. There are no major changes in the squad. All the national team leaders are fit for the international tournament. Only Lovren and Vrsaljko are out of the veteran squad. Croatia are capable of playing at least an even semi-final. The bookmakers' odds raise questions. The Netherlands under Koeman have disappointed in one serious game so far. Croatia have a well-balanced team, a well-run game and a high level of motivation. The Netherlands also do not have a global advantage in terms of quality of performers.
