Roma reached the 1/16 finals thanks to the second place in the Europa League group, where they lost first to Slavia Prague, but ahead of Servette and Sheriff. In six matches of the group round, the Italian club picked up 13 points out of a possible 18 thanks to four wins and one draw.

In the previous round of the Italian Serie A, Wolves suffered a defeat. On their field, the Romans in a hard-fought match lost to the leader Inter (2:4). This failure interrupted the winning streak of the Giallorossi in four matches in all tournaments, including one friendly, the team is in good shape.

Roma breathed a sigh of relief and produced a winning streak of four matches after the sacking of Jose Mourinho. The arrival of Daniele De Rossi in his place gave the team a welcome boost and hopes for a good end to the season.
