Laval scored a quick goal, yet conceded at the start of the second half from a penalty. Although Rouen managed to save themselves only thanks to a penalty, they looked much more dangerous than the opponent, creating more scoring chances. Laval did not press forward much, but controlled the ball more, as if trying to keep their goal safe in anticipation of the return match. In recent weeks and even months both teams have been unstable. At the end of the season Laval in Ligue 2 beat Boulogne (2:1), before that they were heavily beaten by Troyes (0:4) and drew with Rodez (0:0). And Rouen in the third division in the last round defeated Fleury-Merogis (2:1), lost to Versailles (1:3) and drew with Quevilly-Rouen (0:0). It is worth paying attention to how the teams play at home and away. Laval on their home ground look convincing and have not suffered a defeat for seven consecutive matches, i.e., since the end of January. True, five of these matches ended in a draw. Yet almost all games turned out to be productive and intriguing. Rouen away, of course, looks more modest, but in the last three matches they did not lose. So the match will be hard-fought and largely evenly matched.
