The three-week break for national team matches made fans of club football betting miss the European leagues considerably. The next matchday of the German Bundesliga will begin on Friday. By the way, the Germany national team played its first matches under Jürgen Klopp and secured its first victories. We will analyze the teams' positions in the German championship, study the bookmakers' odds and place our bets on the Bundesliga.

League table 

Charismatic Klopp must certainly enjoy looking at the Bundesliga table, where Borussia Dortmund are leading—the team with which the current Germany coach made a name for himself in a big way. The “Bumblebees” are the only team in the German championship not to have dropped a single point after four matchdays. Bayern Munich and Freiburg, who have 10 points each, also occupy places in the TOP 3 of the table. Borussia Mönchengladbach, by contrast, are bottom of the table without a single point. On September 22, Alexander Blessin took over as the team's coach. 

Bookmakers' long-term expectations

Despite their current second place, bookmakers consider Bayern Munich the clear favorite to win the German championship. Before the fifth matchday, bets on the Munich club winning the gold medals are available at odds of 1,10. Any other club winning the Bundesliga is offered at much higher odds of 7,00. Leaders Borussia Dortmund are considered the second-biggest favorite by bookmakers and can be selected as the future champions at 10,0. Analysts give Bayer and Leipzig some chance of winning the title; bets on them finishing first can be placed at odds of 30,0 and 31,0 respectively. The title chances of the other Bundesliga representatives are rated at 100 or higher.

Cologne – Borussia Mönchengladbach

Borussia Mönchengladbach were so poor in August and September that the club's management decided to change the team's development strategy and make use of the lengthy break for national team matches. Borussia have not only appointed a new coach, but have also organized a calm adaptation period for Blessin within the squad. Of course, in professional football there are frequent cases when a team's four defeats are followed by similar or even more impressive winning streaks. However, it seems that this is not the case with Borussia Mönchengladbach, as the team, which had already visibly declined during the preseason, did not receive the necessary reinforcements. In other words, there is nowhere to draw the energy for a “leap” from. Cologne, meanwhile, feel quite comfortable at home in front of packed stands: F1(0) – 1,51. 

Hoffenheim – Hamburg

Hoffenheim have not changed their head coach since November 2024. In the spring, the “Villagers” were happy with Christian Ilzer, under whose guidance the team came close to qualifying for the Champions League. The start of the current season, however, has been extremely difficult for Hoffenheim. In the first matchday, the team were beating Cologne 2:1 but lost; in the second, they were beating Borussia Dortmund 2:0 but once again ended up defeated. Last matchday, the “Villagers” disgraced themselves altogether, losing 1:3 to Paderborn at the home of the division newcomers. Hamburg have also lost three of their four league matches and will arrive for the game as the underdogs. The roles of the opponents are quite clear, meaning we should not expect an abundance of goals from the match: Under 3.5 – 1,79. 

Hunting for an upset

Augsburg – Bayern Munich

It has been known for more than one season that few teams in world football can become a serious opponent for Bayern Munich. Often, the Munich side's main opponent is the required focus of their own players. More precisely, its absence. Harry Kane, Michael Olise and other Bayern players shone for their national teams for three weeks. Now they have to prove something away from home against modest Augsburg, while also keeping in mind that two full days later they will have to play in Norway against the little-known Viking in the Champions League. Augsburg have tripped up the favorite before. Last season, they even won in Munich. We will place a cautious bet that Augsburg will not lose to the German champions on home soil: 1X – 4,30.

Borussia Dortmund – Werder: 1:1  (Under 4 – 1,50;  F2(+1,5) – 1,86).

Mainz – Bayer: 2:1  (1X – 1,65;  Team 2 Under 2 – 1,50). 

Paderborn – Stuttgart: 1:3  (P2 – 1,58;  Over 3 – 1,53).

Union – Elversberg: 1:2  (F2(0) – 2,13;  Team 2 Over 1 – 1,47). 

Leipzig – Eintracht: 2:0  (P1 – 1,55,  Under 3.5 – 2,00). 

Freiburg – Schalke: 3:1  (F1(-1) – 2,00;  Over 2.5 – 1,63).
