Forecast
Roma is rightfully the favorite in the match against Genoa
Not the best show by Genoa in the last round. The Griffins faced Inter and could hardly have expected a positive result from this game. Dimarco's goal in the 31st minute confirmed that the Genoese were unlikely to count on anything. The Snakes confidently controlled the match, and Calhanoglu's spot kick only confirmed the Nerazzurri's pattern of victory. In the previous round Genoa sacked Marco Baroni after beating Torino 3-0. Roma missed a victory over Juventus in one of the marquee matches of the previous round. Already in the third minute the Wolves could have taken the lead. Pellegrini's miss, however, did not affect Gasperini's tactical plan. The Giallorossi continued to create chances at Perin's goal and got what they deserved. In the 39th minute, a beautiful shot put the Romans ahead. Wesley scored. The equalizer by the Bianconeri was no less pleasing to the eye. Soon after the restart Conceicao scored against Svilar. The Romans quickly restored the lead, and by the 65th minute they were already ahead by two. Juventus, however, did not surrender. First Boga reduced the deficit, and right at the final whistle Gatti saved a draw for his team. The Roma vs Cremonese match was no less spectacular. The Wolves scored three times and kept a clean sheet. Over the last four rounds the Giallorossi have scored ten times. The first-leg meeting ended with Roma's confident home win. At the Olimpico the Wolves were already up by three goals by the 31st minute and essentially decided the outcome. Genoa's consolation goal near the end did not affect the result. It is worth noting that the Giallorossi still have a fairly large deficit according to the xG metric. Thus, Gian Piero Gasperini's charges should have scored 6.86 more goals than they actually did. Genoa at Luigi Ferraris matches are statistically even, but they slightly underperform on xGA. Statistically the Griffins in home matches could have conceded three more times. De Rossi's charges are finding it hard against teams from the top of the table. Besides the defeat to Inter, in the last five rounds Genoa lost to Napoli (2:3) and Lazio (2:3). As hosts the club also lost to Juventus (0:1), Lazio (0:3), Inter (1:2) and Atalanta (0:1). Roma is in excellent form and continues to chase a place in the Champions League. A win in the upcoming match would give the Wolves stronger positions.
