Forecast
Getafe doesn’t look like a real favourite
On Saturday, 1 February, Getafe will host Sevilla at home. The teams have not yet secured a quiet life at the end of the season. This is especially true for the hosts: the team from the suburbs of Madrid has only three points to spare from the relegation zone, while Sevilla are four points ahead of Getafe.
Jose Bordalas' wards got out of the mini-crisis. At the moment they even managed to make a winless streak of five matches in all tournaments. As a bonus, they reached the quarter-finals of the King's Cup. Getafe did not lose at home to Barcelona and then gave another sensation - on the road defeated Real Sociedad.
The match with the Basques is a classic for Bordalas' team. Getafe had less possession and mostly kept in defence, but in the end they literally crushed the permanent participant of the European Cup. The important thing is that Getafe suddenly became more efficient: in three consecutive games, they have been betting on a goal exchange, and twice they scored more than the total. Getafe is still the leader in the number of games on the total under - 18 matches.
Bordalas have serious problems with the composition. Firstly, key defender Omar Alderete will not play - yellow cards, another defensive player Allan Nyom is still injured, and midfielder Mauro Aramburi's status is in doubt.
Sevilla continue to look for a balance between attack and defence. The defence is doing worse so far. The team has conceded in five games in a row, with one "dry" encounter in nine games. But in attack they are spectacular. In the previous match against Espanyol, Doni Lukebajo played brightly again - the Belgian creates chances even against top clubs due to his individual skills. Sevilla are objectively a bit short on realisation in recent matches - they scored a goal less than expected in three rounds.
Injuries are a big problem for coach Francisco Pimienta. The staff is still unable to count on veteran Joan Jordão and forward Rafa Mir; Adria Pedrosa and Isaac Romero will miss the trip to Getafe due to a number of cautions. Defender Kike Salas is completing his recovery and is likely to be included in the squad.
Getafe is the favourite according to the bookmakers' line for this match. The status raises questions. Still, Sevilla has a stronger squad, and now the team is on an emotional upswing, playing quite brightly. Getafe gave out some bright matches, but against Barcelona and Real Sociedad did not do without the influence of luck. With Sevilla it will be difficult to play for a win - Luquebajo is too good in space. From a tournament point of view, a draw looks like a perfectly workable result for the rivals.
