Forecast
Verona won't be easy prey for Inter.
Inter cemented their title with the Coppa Italia. On Wednesday the Nerazzurri met Lazio in the Coppa Italia final. The 'Snakes' established their advantage from the opening minutes. And in the 14th minute a Lazio own goal put Kivu's side ahead. By the end of the first half, Inter were leading by two goals. Lazio's first real chance came in the 58th minute, and after that they limited themselves to a few forays. Interestingly, in the previous round of the league Kivu's side also faced Lazio. Unlike the final, the victory was more convincing. Thus, at the Olimpico the 'Snakes' crushed their opponent 3-0. Verona does not want to leave Serie A so easily. In the last round Hellas Verona hosted Como and hardly yielded to the European competition zone representative. The Biancoblu earned three points thanks to a goal by Duvikas, but this cannot really be called a convincing victory. The Gialloblu even managed to equalize, but the goal was ruled offside. A round earlier Verona shared the points with Juventus. The first-leg match ended in an Inter victory, but not an easy one. The Nerazzurri at the Marcantonio Bentegodi Stadium went ahead as early as the 16th minute, but before the break Hellas managed to equalize. Kivu's charges, though they dominated the entire second half, could not win without help from the Gialloblu. In the 90+3 minute, Frese's own goal deprived Verona of a chance to take points. It is worth noting that the Mastiffs play quite well against Inter in head-to-head meetings. The proposed bet did not come off in only one of the last five matches between the teams. Interestingly, for two consecutive seasons the teams meet in the closing rounds. In the previous edition, for example, the Nerazzurri earned a minimal victory; before that there was a draw. The Gialloblu have rather interesting discrepancies in statistical metrics. If you believe xG, the Mastiffs should have scored 12 more goals and conceded nine fewer. The most surprising is xPTS. Statistically, Hellas could have earned about 20.64 more points than they have! The Snakes, by this metric, have a small surplus. Thus, Kivu's charges could have earned six points fewer than they have. After the golden brace, the Nerazzurri are unlikely to crave a rout of the remaining opponents. For Verona this game is a good reason to slam the door on relegation to Serie B. The Gialloblu must provide a worthy contest to the Scudetto holder.
