Forecast
Roma must secure yet another victory
Torino secured their first win of the season in the last round. At the Artemio Franchi, the Bulls faced Fiorentina. The hosts had two incredible chances to open the scoring in the opening minutes. Brilliant saves by the Torino goalkeeper and a defender prevented it. The dull first half gave way to a much more hard-fought second. The Florentines took full control, scored a quick goal, and did not let the game slip away. Torino, however, managed to convert what were almost their only chances. Thus, in the 74th minute Mandragora's long-range shot found the net, and nine minutes later Adams sealed a hard-fought win for the Bulls. Despite the positive result, questions about Abate's team's performance remained. Roma on Thursday faced Fenerbahce in the Champions League. Roma's return to Europe's premier competition wasn't easy. The Giallorossi went ahead in the 39th minute thanks to Cristante. The Turkish club equalized early in the second half, taking advantage of a defensive lapse by Gasperini's side. Until the end of the match, the sides traded chances, the most dangerous of which, arguably, were for Fenerbahce. In the previous round of the league, the Giallorossi beat Atalanta. The Bergamaschi took the lead early in the second half, but two late goals gave Gasperini's men a hard-fought three points. For now the team remains unbeaten. At Turin's Olimpico, the Giallorossi have been quite successful. In five recent meetings at the Bulls' stadium, the Romans have taken four wins. Last season's Round 21 meeting ended with a 0-2 victory for the Wolves. Gasperini's charges are performing with great confidence. Although in three rounds the Wolves have scored ten goals, the xG metric indicates they should have scored almost two more. Turin, interestingly, are not far off this metric. The maroon team's win over Fiorentina, while deserved, was more explained by Fiorentina's problems. Abate's team does not look like a cohesive unit. Torino's play is awkward, unbalanced, and far from optimal. Roma are in their best form, and the European Cup match is unlikely to affect the physical condition of Gasperini's players. The Romans must secure their fourth win in the league.
