Forecast
The Swiss won't be able to win on British soil.
In Glasgow, as part of the second matchday of the group stage of the Nations League, the national teams that took part in the World Cup this summer will meet. For Scotland, reaching the World Cup was the first in almost three decades. Should we even say how important the North American tournament was for this British country? The thing is, however, that the Scots failed to perform at a high level. In the first round they earned a hard-fought victory over modest Haiti, after which they were beaten by Morocco and Brazil. Due to the disappointing performance at the 2026 World Cup, the Scottish Football Association changed the coaching staff, inviting Sebastien Pocognoli, who had not settled in Monaco. Under the guidance of the Belgian specialist, Scotland played only one match. It took place in Slovenia as part of the current Nations League cycle a few days ago. Despite a noticeable advantage for the Scots, the Slovenians managed to avoid defeat and kept the score 0:0. It is worth noting that in the previous Nations League the British side competed in League A, but finished third and were relegated after playoff matches with Greece. Switzerland followed the same path as their opponent. In the last Nations League season Murat Yakin's team played in the top division. In a group with Spain, Denmark and Serbia they earned only two points and were relegated to League B. Yet after that the Swiss achieved quite decent results. In qualification for the World Cup they were unmatched in a group with Sweden, Slovenia and Kosovo. In North America itself, Yakin's charges performed superbly, reaching extra time in the quarterfinal clash with Argentina, where, while one man down, they allowed Leo Messi and his teammates to finish them off. Their path in the new Nations League cycle began in Skopje. They managed to beat North Macedonia in its own den, 3:0. The start of such a convincing run made the Swiss favourites for the upcoming match in the eyes of bookmakers. At the same time, one should not forget the level at which the Scots play on their home ground. Not long ago, quite strong Denmark and Greece came to Glasgow for victories, but they lost there 2:4 and 1:3 respectively. Let's place a bet that the home side will not lose.
