Forecast
The guests won't be able to secure a decent result in London.
It would seem that one must work to find similarities between London's Crystal Palace and Zrinjski Mostar, the Bosnian club representing the city of Mostar. Yet the similarities lie on the surface and consist in their inexperience in European competitions. The English side is, in fact, a debutant in continental competitions and is trying on the fly to learn how to distribute the workload between the Premier League and the Conference League. By contrast, Zrinjski has missed only a few European campaigns in the last twenty years, but only twice reached the knockout rounds of the Conference League and only now is debuting in knockout matches. Before the first leg in Bosnia and Herzegovina, we assumed that Crystal Palace, at the start of the playoff stage, would stop playing at full tilt and would try to decide all questions about the 1/8 final participant already in the first match. However, the assumption proved false. The London club in Mostar went ahead in the 44th minute, but early in the first half conceded a reply after a stunning strike by Carlo Abramovich. Subsequently the opponents had only half-chances, and Crystal Palace did not attempt to turn the draw into a win. Bookmakers named the home side clear favorites for the upcoming meeting, offering odds of 1.11 on their victory. If Oliver Glasner had been asked before the match in Mostar whether he was ready for a draw with Zrinjski, if in the subsequent Premier League match Crystal Palace beats Wolverhampton Wanderers, there is no reason to doubt the Austrian coach's answer. In light of Sunday's victory over the Wolves, the players of the London club will go into the return match on Thursday in a good mood. There is really nowhere to retreat. All are ready for Glasner's departure from the coaching post of the 'Glaziers' in the summer, but the memory of him here will not be a good one if the team is eliminated from European competition by Zrinjski. The Bosnian club, in its domestic championship, drew with Široki Brijeg last weekend. The opponents in the London match have a colossal difference in the class of players, and it's hard to imagine that the guests could at least snatch a draw in regular time.
